What would you classify as ‘rude’?
What would be your definition of the word ‘rude’?
If you asked someone a question and got ignored, would that be considered rude? How about if the person did answer, but whose tone of voice/message was the complete opposite of your politeness? Would you still be patient to keep up your polite and nice front; or would you mirror said receiver’s tone and be rude as well?
For the past few days, I had the chance to ponder this thought myself. Having experienced a similar situation as above, I started questioning myself on what was considered lack of tact, and what was just plain, straight out rude.
For those who know me, I’d like to think that I would seem a very cheerful and happy-go-lucky person. I’ve been brought up to put a high importance in manners and respect, and if you happen to come across my blogs or Twitter etc, chances are, you will find that my posts are filled with smilies and emoticons. This is because I believe that emoticons and smilies put emphasis on what I’m trying to say. Maybe it’s just me, but meh, it’s called individuality. =3
So when I communicate with someone and the other person retorts in a monotonous, not-so-friendly manner, it ticks me off. I mean, sure, I don’t expect you to be all smiles to me and put up a fake front when you’ve got a problem or something, but the least you can do is not be so rude! I wasn’t the reason you’ve got your panties in a bunch pal, so don’t you go letting it out on me. Especially when you’re ‘someone’ of ‘something’. When you communicate that way to your ‘clients’, you lose them, honey. I was so close to telling you to fuck it and cancel/delete my -ah- request.
I mean, if you’re not gonna be friendly or at least nice to me, then obviously you’re not worth my time. I hope I won’t have anything else to do with you in the future. I’m serious. And I’m gonna warn everyone else to not come to you if they happen to need similar ‘service’.
