What does the phrase ‘I’m in love’ mean to you?
First off, love is a strong word.
You may think you’re in love, when infatuation is what you’re really feeling.
Love is not the fluttering in your chest when you see someone you fancy.
It’s not the thump thump in your chest, the high you get when you find out that your crush likes you back.
That is not love.
It is too petty, too simple to be called ‘love’.’
Love is spending years together and still be able to see a long future ahead in each other’s eyes.
Love is the compassion you feel for one another.
Love is the willingness to fight for your relationship; the willingness to go through hell and back;
Love is having faith in each other, even when you feel that all is lost.
Love is taking the effort to see each other, a million miles away, because just holding on to each other, seeing each other, just spending time with the other, however fleeting the moment is; is all so worth it.
Love is risking all the heartaches, all the tears, and pulling through, together.
Love knows no boundaries and sacrifice.
Love is going through thick and thin together, and still looking at each other as if it’s the first time.
So yes, I’m in love.
The inspiration for this comes from seeing my grandparents everyday, seeing how loving they are after all these years… Poh-poh & Ah Koong, your love inspires me.
Also, dedicated to the one and only.. The one I love so much, Michael Tan. <3 <3
