Last week, I had the opportunity to witness and be a small part of an event at my workplace.
It was a so-called ‘birthday party’ for the kids at Rapha Children’s Home.
If the name doesn’t already tell you what it is, it is a children’s home for orphaned kids.
It’s nothing new; I mean I definitely know that there are a few such homes here in Kuantan, but truth be told, I’ve never set foot in any of them, or personally been in company of them. So last Wednesday marked my first.
And to be honest, it was a little bittersweet.
I didn’t know if I should feel happy for them, or sad.
Happy, because they were having a blast, running about and eating off of the buffet, and getting shaped balloons made by the boys from the F& B department; and sad, because they were literally all each other had.
And like my former DM mentioned, all of them were ‘colour-blind’.
Meaning that they knew no difference in race; regardless of what language they spoke, they were still family. They treated each other like their own brothers and sisters, looking out for one another.
Makes you just wanna thank God for the family that you have, don’t it?
