It’s really true what they say: your reaction towards a result of something is based on how you feel about it.
For me, I have only 2 different ways of taking things; and that is, Dance-Related and Non-Dance Related.
I’ll give you an example that just happened to me today. Same/similar situation, totally different reaction and attitude.
I willingly admit here, my body isn’t exactly the fittest and I’m not exactly the most health conscious person (sure I watch what I eat, but I… tend to cheat… A LOT. >< ), so it’s understandable that certain things I do, I may have less stamina than others. (MIND OUTTA THE GUTTER YOU PERVERTED MOFOS OUT THERE. YES, I’m taking to you! xD)
So when I dance, of course I can’t match the hours of training that professional Ballet dancers go through. But when I’m exhausted from dance and my body hurts and my muscles are crying from overwork, I’m happy.
I’m happy knowing that I worked out and I just get this… satisfaction from my aching muscles. And if I happen to get any blisters from pointe work or if my toes bleed from it, I’ll bear them proudly, like a ‘battle scar’ if you will.
BUT in other circumstances…
I will whine and moan about it.
Muscle hurts slightly?
Whine. Even if the ache is not even CLOSE to the kind you get after an intense dancing session.
Blisters on toes from wearing a shoe too long?
Complain and whine and moan about it.
Biased much? =B
